Use of technological tools, operations, and concepts to enhance learning, personal/professional productivity, and communication, including the ability to:

a. Understand the equity, ethical, legal, social, physical, and psychological issues surrounding the use of technology in K-12 schools and apply those principles in practice; I attended a full professional development day before my student teaching placement started.  During this time, the superintendent addressed the various issues that exist because of technological use.
b. Successfully complete and reflect upon collaborative online learning experiences; As part of my Showcase Unit Plan during my student teaching experience, I designed a Virtual Learning Environment.  There is a specific section in my unit plan that addresses the effectiveness of how I thought it was for my students.  That can be viewed here.
c. Demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to create an online learning experience, and demonstrate continued growth in knowledge of technology operations, resource evaluation for quality, objectivity, and reliability and concepts including strategies for teaching and learning in an online environment; As I mentioned above, I designed and implemented my own Virtual Learning Environment as a part of my Showcase Unit Plan for student teaching.  I researched and tested out every piece of the VLE myself to make sure that it was effective and safe for my students.  You can find it here.
d. Plan, design, and evaluate effective technology-enhanced learning environments and experiences aligned with Michigan’s Content Standards and Grade Level Content Expectations and Michigan Educational Technology Standards for each student; Before creating my Virtual Learning Environment during my student teaching placement, I researched many different facets of online resources.  I chose only to include those resources that I felt were most beneficial for promoting learning in my students.
e. Implement curriculum plans that include effective technology-enhanced methods and strategies to maximize student learning; During my science unit for my student teaching experience, I often incorporated videos and websites that I thought would enhance student learning.  An example of this was watching The Magic School Bus as a one review before our chapter.
f. Apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies; and I incorporated many experiences for my students to use technology during my Showcase Unit Plan during my student teaching placement.  The technological experiences helped me to assess their learning and to evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson and the technology.
g. Use technology to engage in ongoing professional development, practice, productivity, communication, and life-long learning. During the entirety of my student teaching placement, I have been in communication with my mentor teacher and parents through telephone and email.  I have also helped students with computer programs such as Accelerated Reading Tests, Math Facts and Renaissance Learning.
