Ethically-Grounded Deliberator

Morally, ethically-grounded deliberators, living and working with diverse individuals with integrity:

When working with students during my student teaching, I decided that I wanted to be as available to them as possible.  I allowed students to have my professional e-mail address and my personal phone number so that they could be in contact whenever they had any issues with homework, studying, etc.  By doing this, I was able to create a learning environment that stretched beyond the school building and out into the real world.  However, when I began this experiment in connectedness, I made it very clear that these forms of communication were only available for professional communication.  Whenever students “crossed the line” with these forms of communication, I reminded them that this was a privilege, and that they would have to use it correctly in order to maintain it.
