Halloween Compositions – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grades

The day before Halloween, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades brainstormed a list of Halloween words on our whiteboard. We took those idea words and composed sentences to go with them. After writing six sentences together, we then went back through and wrote out the notation for the number of beats in each word. We checked to make sure we had the correct pattern after each sentence, clapping the pattern and speaking the words. Once complete, we read through the entire rhythm twice as a whole group.

Here are the images from our silly Halloween compositions;

(skeleton is misspelled in the song – my apologies!)
